"Magic is what I'm going to do, I love it. It's a vehicle for me to make a difference in the community and get my point across in a positive way and be a mentor for kids. I can convey a thought or educate people with a visual concept that they can relate to and not forget."
Louis Marin's "Typhoon Lou" magic career began when he was 9 years old. His grandfather, a master of sleight of hand, integrated magic into bedtime stories and taught Marin the 52-card pick-up trick. Throughout his childhood, Marin dazzled his friends with his magic.
When he joined the Navy, his passion for magic only intensified. In addition to performing his assignments as a chief petty officer, he worked as a magician on the side, performing in at least 20 countries. A Japanese karate master dubbed him "Typhoon Lou," he says, "because I blow you away."
After 22 years of service, he retired from the Navy in 1998 and decided to pursue magic full time.
